A WINDING TRAIL first appeared in print in the Chicago Tribune quilt column published by Nancy Cabot (Loretta Leitner Rising) in the 1930's. It is illustrated in 5,500 QUILT BLOCK DESIGNS by Maggie Malone (#3719) and in the ENCLYCLOPEDIA OF PIECED QUILT PATTERNS by Barbara Brackman. (Malone's collection offers an excellent array of brightly colored geometric tiling patterns, and the section utilizing "Circles and Curves" is extraordinary.)
