Quilt Notes: The WEDDING QUILT is one of the most integrated of designs — two different patterns unite wonderfully well into one. The four-patch block is illustrated as above, #942, in Judy Rehmel's THE QUILT I.D. BOOK: 4,000 ILLUSTRATED AND INDEXED PATTERNS, 1986.
In the PERFECT PATCHWORK PRIMER (1973), Beth Gutcheon (p.75) introduces the block with a two-patch design, just the left panel of the square appears in her illustration, because she intends to create a union, in her discussion, between the two sides. She says that the design "shows one of the most exciting examples" of the two block effect. "The square," she says, "which is begun in one block is completed in the other, but this can be made very subtle according to how you use the colors."
