From "Waste not, want not," the design seems beautifully reminiscent of Amish minimalism. WASTE NOT is similar to the rather tipsy PERPETUAL MOTION (illustrated right), which requires an 8 x 8 grid, and was included in Maggie Malone's 500 FULLSIZE PATHCHWORK PATTERNS, 1985. This design tiles beautifully, repeating itself "perpetually," positive and negative, like an Escher design.
