Quilt Notes: This version of TRUE LOVERS KNOT derives from Cappers, 1931. But also illustrated earlier on in the LADIES ART COMPANY Catalog, although listed there under the name INTERLACED BLOCKS, according to Maggie Malone's example (#3306) in her full-color 5,500 QUILT BLOCK DESIGNS, which includes a couple of other "knot" shaped design blocks. Barbara Brackman's ENCYCLOPEDIA (#2579) provides the piecing arrangement, as illustrated left. |
According to Wikipedia: "The true lover's knot (or true love knot) is a name which has been used for many distinct knots. The association of knots with the symbolism of love, friendship, and affection dates back to antiquity. Because of this, it is not possible to consider a single knot to be the "true love knot."
