Quilt Notes:
This version of TILE PATCHWORK debuted in quiltdom in the Ladies Art Company Catalogue, #390, in 1897 (a facsilime of the LAC line drawing is illustrated left).
According to Jinny Beyer's QUILTER'S ALBUM OF PATCHWORK PATTERNS, there is no other early source for this design, and neither was it illustrated by Nancy Cabot in her famous Chicago Tribune column, etc. So it's a very beautiful quilt block with little notoriety, surprisingly.
Striped fabrics with multiple color combinations seem to work exceptionally well with the simplicity of this design, as can be seen in the illustrations above.
