ANTIQUE GEOMETRIC QUILT DESIGNS * TELLURIDE PUZZLE
< INDEX | BOOKS >
Quilt Notes: TELLURIDE PUZZLE, a four-patch block, is illustrated in Maggie Malone's 5,500 QUILT BLOCK DESIGNS, where it is traced back to QUILTER'S NEWSLETTER. Telluride, was a 19th c. silver-mining town, located in the mountains of Colorado, and has been celebrated in books and films in American pop culture. Tellurium is a silver-white metalloid which looks like tin. Telluride is now a ski resort (photo below, from Wikipedia). All quilt blocks, with their interlocking pieces, are called puzzles; specific designs with the "puzzle" name at this site include BALKAN PUZZLE, FOOL'S PUZZLE and TURKISH PUZZLE.
