SYMMETRY IN MOTION (Piecing Grid) |
Quilt Notes: SYMMETRY IN MOTION is illustrated in Maggie Malone's 500 FULL-SIZE PATCHWORK PATTERNS, 1985, including full-size templates, but is not listed in Barbara Brackman's ENCYCLOPEDIA OF PIECED QUILT PATTERNS or Jenny Beyer's QUILTER'S ALBUM, and perhaps unique to Malone, especially as there is no other derivation listed in Malone's 5,500 QUILT BLOCK DESIGNS compendium.
SYMMETRY IN MOTION accurately describes the beauty of most geometric quilt designs, creatively a marvelously original name: compare with PUDDING AND PIE and CATCH AS YOU CAN, also HAZY DAZY and DOODLE-A-QUILT.
