ANTIQUE GEOMETRIC QUILT DESIGNS
REFLECTIONS OF LOVE with LOVE RING
|
 |
Quilt Notes: the title REFLECTIONS OF LOVE is a reminder that the design is adapted from the center section of another DRUNKARD'S PATH block called LOVE RING (illustrated right). This two-color design is interpreted here as a symbol not of "reflections of love" so much as a "love of reflections" splashes of light, splashes of shadow! On the popular retro fabric utilized above (depicting a braided girl on a donkey carrying a flag, and following a path through the woods) -- see how the crescent shape changes to a sun disc when the light and dark reverse themselves! REFLECTIONS OF LOVE is illustrated in Pepper Cory's 65 DRUNKARD'S PATH QUILT DESIGNS, Dover 1991, with paper templates but it is not included in ENCYCLOPEDIA OF PIECED QUILT PATTERNS. More DRUNKARD'S designs at this site, utilizing the quarter-circle illustrated left, include:
DEVIL'S PUZZLE
DOVE
DRUNKARD'S GARDEN
DRUNKARD'S PATH
FALLING TIMBERS
