ANTIQUE GEOMETRIC QUILT DESIGNS NEW MOON
| < INDEX
Quilt Notes:
NEW MOON is the secondary pattern created by tiling a SNOWBALL variation with the circle in the center both designs were published by Nancy Cabot (Loretta Leitner Rising) in her syndicated quilt column in the 1930's, according to Barbara Brackman's ENCYCLOPEDIA OF PIECED QUILT PATTERNS, American Quilter's Society, 1993. A similar design is called BASEBALL, PULLMAN PUZZLE, or STEEPLECHASE, but without the diagonal breaks connecting the circles, which is what makes this design so unique. The circle is added in quarters, or as a single piece, with appliqué.
