ANTIQUE GEOMETRIC QUILT DESIGNS
DARTING BIRD
| < INDEX | BOOKS >
Quilt Notes: In this DARTING BIRD design (illustrated in Maggie Malone's 1001 PATCHWORK DESIGNS, Sterling Publications, 1982), colors seem to "dart" across the quilt! According to Barbara Brackman's ENCYCLODPEDIA OF PIECED QUILT DESIGNS, a slight variation titled with the plural DARTING BIRDS (see right) first appeared in the syndicated mail-order column created by Nancy Page (Florence LaGanke Harris), published in the late 1920s-40s.
