Quilt Notes: The famed, scenic CUMBERLAND GAP is now an Historical National Park. According to the official website, it was " the first great gateway to the west...all traveled this route through the mountains into the wilderness of Kentucky." The design was illustrated by Nancy Cabot in the Chicago Tribune on December 7, 1935 (see left). Cabot's commentary says: "CUMBERLAND GAP makes a most unusual quilt because each block reverses when set together in the coverlet...The patches are large and work up quickly. Tan, blue, rose and cream form the suggested color combination."
