Quilt Notes: The famed, scenic CUMBERLAND GAP is now an Historical National Park. According to the official website, it was " the first great gateway to the west...all traveled this route through the mountains into the wilderness of Kentucky." |
The design was illustrated by Nancy Cabot in the Chicago Tribune on December 7, 1935 (see left). Cabot's commentary says:
"CUMBERLAND GAP makes a most unusual quilt because each block reverses when set together in the coverlet...The patches are large and work up quickly. Tan, blue, rose and cream form the suggested color combination."
