CROWN OF STARS. BY NANCY CABOT.
|
CROWN OF STARS a very beautiful pattern, debuted in Nancy Cabot's quilt column in the Chicago Tribune on December 10, 1935. Her commentary states the following:
"There was much thought given to this pattern by its unknown designer. The pattern was arranged to bring out a circle of blue and yellow stars [or your own color scheme] on a field of white ones, thus fulfilling its name. It is an attractive and simple pieced pattern which everyone may create."
The design is included in Jinny Beyer's QUILTER'S ALBUM OF PATCHWORK PATTERNS, P.231-4, with a slight change in the so-called white stars, so that they appear more distinctly, by way of a light green. Here we have retained the stars but colored them here with light blue, as as to make them more visible in the tiling pattern. There's quite a circle dance going on here too, and as if the dancers were holding hands.
