Quilt Notes: Nancy Cabot's CRAZY QUILT BOUQUET was first published in the Chicago Tribune on October 24, 1933, as illustrated left, but with four of these bouquets repeated as a square to make up each separate block. Nevertheless if the single design is repeated throughout the quilt (see tiling below), the quilt then simply becomes an overall pattern. Cabot's notes state the following:
"This 'Crazy Quilt Bouquet' is attractive in its own right but it has an added appeal to the thrifty quilter because in it she can utilize all her scraps from other quilts. The color problem ceases to be a problem if care is used in matching the scraps and striving for a harmonious effect."
