Quilt Notes: CHILDREN'S DELIGHT (Ladies Art Company Catalogue #319) was illustrated in Nancy Cabot's quilt column in the Chicago Daily Tribune on May 14, 1934, where she dated the design back to an "ancient lineage, having made its debut in Connecticut in 1830." The design would appear to be asymmetrical, but tile down and see how it transforms into unexpected symmetry, perhaps even rigidly. Nancy Cabot (aka Loretta Leitner Rising) suggests red, white and blue as a masculine color scheme for a boy's quilt — good suggestion and true, but what does that say about the American flag? (Never mind.)
