ANTIQUE GEOMETRIC QUILT DESIGNS BIRDS IN THE AIR
|
< INDEX | BOOKS | NEXT >
Quilt Notes: BIRDS IN THE AIR, a very common sight to see, but always magnificent, especially in flocks. Even in cities, pigeons perform magnificent spectacles gliding together high among the buildings. The terrain of this design is also quite common, just three small triangles in a square cut diagonally. Nevertheless a glorious way to utilize scraps of many colors from great fabrics. Have a look at Barbara Brackman's book on QUILTS FROM THE CIVIL WAR (1997), where this design is beautifully illustrated (diamond set).
Google Books has an enticing preview, here — do have a look, it includes meticulous cutting and piecing instructions too.
